FIRST ELDER ELECTION RESOLUTION

Attention Life Church Members.
The following resolution will be up for a vote on Thursday August 13. It is being presented to you by the Elders because of the delay in the elder appointments, effectively shortening the terms of all the elders by nearly a half of a year. Please give this your prayerful consideration.
A notification of this resolution and sample of the ballot has been sent to all members. The vote is scheduled for August 13th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. At that time this vote can be completed in one of three ways: via Survey Monkey, emailing the church office or by stopping in at the church office to place your vote in the box.
WHEREAS extenuating circumstances delayed the election of the Elders to mid-year effectively reducing the length of all their terms of office, in keeping with an annual January election cycle, from 1 - 4 years to about 0.5 - 3.5 years. Please vote for one of the two options below.
1) That the first elder election be postponed one year. If approved, this will mean that the next Elder election to fill the two existing one-year term positions will not occur until January 2022, and the current Elders will effectively have terms lengthened to 1.5 - 4.5 years.
Or
2) That the first elder election be conducted as originally stipulated in the bylaws. If approved this will mean that the next Elder election to fill the two existing one-year term positions will occur in January 2021, and the terms of office for the current Elders will effectively be shortened to 0.5 - 3.5 years.
