Nominations for the Ministry Teams

In accordance with our By-Laws the elders are forming four Ministry Teams each comprised of four church members, men or women, plus an elder. These teams will shape policies and provide leadership in the areas of Budget and Finance, Missions and Outreach, Human Resources and Personnel, and Building and Grounds. Descriptions of these teams are being emailed out to all members and are available on our church website. We are opening nominations for these positions beginning Sunday June 14, through Friday, June 26 at 5pm. In order to insure nominees who have a desire to be on these teams and feel qualified to do so, we are asking that either they nominate themselves, or those who desire to nominate them confirm beforehand with their intended nominee his or her assent. They can be submitted by email or paper ballot in the lobby.

The Nomination Vetting Ministry Team will be tasked with vetting these nominees and then forwarding to the elders their recommended list of candidates from which the elders will appoint members for each team by a two-thirds majority vote.

Ministry Team Descriptions

Budget and Finance Ministry Team. The Budget and Finance Ministry Team shall be comprised of four members appointed by the Elders, and the Treasurer of the Elders, Members appointed by the Elders shall serve for a term of four years and shall not be term limited.

This Ministry Team shall ensure proper stewardship of all church financial assets. Duties shall include, but not be limited to: A) working with other staff, Elders, and other Ministry Teams to develop and execute the annual budget, B) reviewing and presenting financial reports to the Elders, C) completing an annual financial audit to be reported to the congregation at the annual business meeting, D) advising the Elders regarding financial investments and major financial expenditures, and E) seeking out external professional advice and consultants as needed. The Ministry Team shall create the annual budget and submit it to the Elders for approval no later than November 30th each year. The Elder-approved budget shall be shared with the congregation at the annual business meeting.

This team shall oversee the insurance policies of the church and provide risk management advice to the Elders.

Missions and Outreach Ministry Team. The Missions and Outreach Ministry Team shall be comprised of four members appointed by the Elders, one Elder delegated from the Elders, and one staff member designated by the Senior Pastor. Members appointed by the Elders shall serve for a term of four years and shall not be term limited.

The function of this Ministry Team shall be to coordinate all mission efforts of the church (including both local and world missions and outreaches) and provide leadership in the financing, planning and coordination of missions and outreach related activities. They will be responsible for writing, maintaining, and following a missions and outreach policy as it relates to the selection, training, care, and support of missions/missionaries adopted or sent out by the church. They will coordinate with the Budget and Finance Ministry Team and advise the Elders on church mission/outreach expenditures.

This Ministry Team shall also establish benevolence fund policies to properly administer funds budgeted for that purpose. These policies shall provide church pastoral staff with guidelines for administering those funds.

Human Resources and Personnel Ministry Team. The Human Resources and Personnel Ministry Team shall be comprised of four members appointed by the Elders, one Elder assigned from the Elders, and the Senior Pastor or a staff member designated by the Senior Pastor, Members appointed by the Elders shall serve for a term of four years and shall not be term limited.

The function of this Ministry Team is to advise the Elders in matters relating to personnel administration and management, including such areas as employment practices, salaries, benefits, severances, and the writing and maintenance of an employee handbook. The Elders shall possess the final authority to hire, set salaries, direct, oversee, discipline, and terminate associate pastors and non-pastoral staff, except when otherwise delegated by the Elders.

Building and Grounds Ministry Team. The Building and Grounds Ministry Team shall be comprised of four members appointed by the Elders, one Elder delegated from the Elders, and one staff member designated by the Senior Pastor. Members appointed by the Elders shall serve for a term of four years and shall not be term limited.

The function of this Ministry Team shall be to ensure the proper maintenance, enhancements, and improvements of all the church facilities, grounds, and motor vehicles. This team will advise the Elders on matters related to meeting the physical needs of the church as it relates to but not limited to; buildings, grounds, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and transportation.

Qualifications of Ministry Team Members. Ministry Team members must be men or women who are active members of the congregation fully supporting the expressed and intended goals of the church with their time, efforts and finances. Specifically, Team Members must reflect the character, qualifications, and attributes stated in 1 Timothy 3:8-13.
